TRACY (CBS13) – A 62-year-old woman was killed at a motel she works at after witnesses claim a blood-covered naked man who may have been high went on a violent rampage late Saturday.

The victim was killed while at work at the Hacienda Inn on West 11th Street in Tracy.

The suspect is behind bars as police try and piece together this bizarre case.

“Most definitely the craziest thing I’ve seen in my life, most definitely,” said Jermaine Haynes, who discovered the victim.

It’s something Haynes wishes he never saw after the woman was brutally murdered at the motel where he lives.

“She comes to our room everyday and she cleans rooms,” he said.

Haynes said it was Saturday night that Andrew Carreiro knocked on his door at the inn trying to sell candy, but acting strange.

“He was on like cloud 20. I don’t know what he was on, but he was on something though,” said Haynes.

He says soon after being turned away, Carreiro starting breaking windows at the motel, but as they ran to stop him they couldn’t find him.

A few minutes later, there’d be a commotion in a management apartment.


“The dude wouldn’t open the door again, so we kicked the window in. It was crazy, it was just crazy,” said Haynes.

Haynes and others said they broke in and what they discovered was gruesome.

“The lady was like half naked, and he was butt naked, blood all over him. It was crazy man,” said Haynes.

That 62-year-old woman would be brought to a hospital where she’d be pronounced dead.

“All the dude kept saying was like ‘I didn’t do nothing, I didn’t do nothing.’ He was like out of his mind, delirious,” said Haynes.

Haynes and others were able to hold a naked Carreiro until police arrived.

No one inside the office wanted to talk about the bizarre tragedy.

“I don’t know what that man did to her. All I saw was a big gash on her head, blood everywhere,” said Haynes.

A random and unexplainable alleged crime, no doubt has a community stunned.

“Whatever happened, they didn’t deserve that at all,” said Haynes.

Carreiro is at the San Joaquin County jail and faces a number of charges including murder.

Police haven’t released the name of the victim.

Since he was naked, I'm guessing bath salts.

Another bath salt incident I suspect. If there's nakedness and lot's of blood, it's usually bath salts.
