Michael K. Williams — who portrayed notorious stickup man Omar Little on “The Wire”



was found dead of a suspected heroin overdose in his Brooklyn penthouse Monday afternoon.
Williams, 54, was discovered face-down and unresponsive in the dining room of his luxury Williamsburg pad with what appeared to be heroin*on the kitchen table, sources said.

Williams struggled to adjust to normal life after shooting The Wire. He got used to being called Omar in the street, began experimenting with cocaine, and was evicted from his Brooklyn housing project after his money from the first series dried up. His life started to resemble something from the show: the lines between reality and what he was portraying on the streets of Baltimore became increasingly blurred. Other cast members experienced similar problems.

How many times i read similar from other actors, singers etc. Guess being a succesful actor/singer can be quite lonely and out of boredom they start taking drugs to forget but drugs doesn't forget how to destroy you, esp. heroin

Don’t make the conscious decision to do drugs. It’s really easy if you value yourself and have willpower.

Does it suck that he’s gone? Yes

Yup, I'm thinking about him again.
The Chalky White character. It's such a sad character. All of his are. They make you just want him to be happy. That's about how I'd explain it.

A little bit like the giant Duncan guy in The Green Mile.
I remember just writhing alone in a theatre watching that. I was so angry that they were actually gonna electrocute him. They were a bit similar.
My hatred for the law must have gone up 35-60% on that day alone.
Now they are both dead.

Michael K. Williams’ death in early September was due to an accidental overdose of fentanyl, p-fluorofentanyl, heroin and cocaine, the New York City medical examiner’s office confirmed.
