Fios triple play takes about 5 hours , that's Video, Data and Voice if there's no ONT or equiptment there already , 9 hours is a bit long unless he was a new technician or something ! Those guys get paid like 45 dollars an hour too..

Re: Westborough Man Locked Verizon Worker in Underground Vault

All I can think of are the Verizon commercials .. Guy walking with cell phone all over and in odd places . -
"Can you hear me now?"
"Good."
And as for this inquiry on Verizon -

Hi diamandsmiles do you have Verizon service where you live, landline service , if so how's their service crappy or good ?
I seen an ad online for Verizon DSL for $25, was using neighbor's wifi I jacked at the time...
Figured was cheap enough..go with it.
Sent me a wireless router/modem, had to pay $5/month for the landline to use the DSL but got unlimited local calling so was alright.
Was all self install, I'm proficient with computers and networking so wasn't a big deal..
All was well.. UNTIL...
I got my first bill..
DSL - $25.00
Land Line - $5.00
Random Tax - $1.43 (dollar and some change)
No biggie, then I see the total and had to review all of the charges..

$40.00 for FCC Taxes on Phone Line usage
Well..seeing as FIOS Was not available in my area in my city at the time.. (which I would have ordered beforehand had it been in area)
And I was now paying upwards of $70+/month for 8Mbps down / 1Mbps up DSL?
So..
Went with Comcast..got faster internet. and is lower priced.. ($45.00/month 30Mbps down/10Mbps up)
Of course..I did call Verizon and bitch up a shit storm when I seen my bill and the following month's bill..
All they said was there was nothing they could do about it and apologized..
I told them each month following for like 4 months to shut it off, not paying it..
Never did..so got like 4 months free internet before I went to Commiecast. :/
Now I have Comcast's internet, Magic Jack phone service . (Only gripe, must dial area code while dialing out)
And... relative got an extra cable box, loaning it to me.. so all channels and free HBO...

If you order Verizon, Question total bill per month before you agree to sign on... and ask about taxes and landline usage charges.. These probably do not apply to FIOS...but I'd still ask.. Don't let em railroad ya...

Google has gigabit internet.. but it is only in selected southern cities.. The second they decide to come north.. I'm jumping ship.. Actually get your money's worth from them.

Re: Westborough Man Locked Verizon Worker in Underground Vault

..reason I ask is because have a couple friends in Virginia DC MD area always complaining that the Verizon technicians not showing up or coming very late for DSL & FIOS troubles and installs

The techs who came here were always great! They even gave me their cell phone numbers.

I think it depends, with any service, where you live. A former friend hated TMobile. If you're in a rural area or near a lot of power lines, you may have issues with any service.

Re: Westborough Man Locked Verizon Worker in Underground Vault

I recently had Verizon FIOS installed and the guy took 9hrs to complete his job.. does it usually take that long? I honestly think the guy was milking.
The first time installation of the main box, for lack of a better word, did take a few hours.

My techs always called and were even a bit early at times.

The man who installed the cable even did a presentation for us

I hated those commercials and that stupid guy! I was hoping he was the one locked in the vault

I had Verizon years ago for just my landline and stayed away from the other services just because of that commercial.

I liked the redheaded guy, but, I don't remember which product he endorsed

He went on to try acting

The taxes and surcharges have gotten ridiculous though!

You don't pay them by the hour though.

As you can see, we all have different opinions and good and bad experiences
