Westborough Man Locked Verizon Worker in Underground Vault
http://boston.cbslocal.com/2013/08/0...rground-vault/ Westborough Man Accused Of Locking Verizon Worker In Underground Vault August 6, 2013 10:33 PM WESTBOROUGH, MA (CBS) – Police say the owner of a Westborough storage facility took his anger out on a Verizon worker by locking him up. Every second counted for Mike Hathaway who was sealed in an underground vault running out of air, and police say it was no accident. The victim was trapped when another man allegedly slammed the door. “He sounded extremely nervous right from the get go,” said Westborough Police Sgt. Jonathan Kalagher. “When the hatch was closed, it didn’t allow for any more oxygen to get in, so it was time sensitive to get to him.” The suspect, 71-year-old Howard Cook, owns Westboro Self Storage. Cook was apparently mad that Hathaway parked his Verizon van on his grass to access the vault to do some work. Police say Cook not only slammed the door shut, but he also allegedly picked up huge rocks and placed them on the door. “They’re pretty large rocks that were put on top of the hatch,” said Sgt. Kalagher. “There was also a ladder that was removed, which prohibited him from escaping.” Hathaway called 911 from the vault and was eventually freed by a police officer. Cook faces a number of charges including kidnapping. Fortunately, 911 could hear the worker when he called from underground! |

Re: Westborough Man Locked Verizon Worker in Underground Vault
Alot of people with service vans/trucks park like assholes, but, I park in my garage. If I'm blocked in, I try knocking on the door where the driver is working, then call the main office, if the worker doesn't hear me. It usually works |

Re: Westborough Man Locked Verizon Worker in Underground Vault
I do have verizon/fios for my tv, internet and landline. It's better than comcast! If you only need a landline and use your cell more often, you can even go with one of the really cheapies. I had cavalier for awhile. Didn't care for their internet. What I like about verizon is, if you call after normal business hours, late evening or early AM, when I'm awake, you sometimes get a tech on the phone and he usually can help you. I have TMobile for my cell, which is several years old and it's only on when I'm mobile or babysitting. I rarely, if ever, text. I hope that helps. I've had no issues with the phone although people who call from cells claim I fade out sometimes. I guess since it's all fiber optics now. I hear them just fine. |
