It's also illegal to feed wild animals - especially predators, because it becomes very dangerous for people.

Also - I believe that wild cats don't eat dead things(like pre butchered meat) usually. They like fresh killed meat. Zoo cats are used to it, but wild is different. I don't know how successful it would be. It would bring in the bears though.
The food goes in the trap, FFS.

Do the country folk in Canada not have guns? Do their bears and cougars prefer a vegan diet?

I grew up in the woods of Northern California. We always had guns. There were close encounters with bears and one crazy guy who escaped custody and decided to sit on our front porch. They were also good for when we needed food in winter. It's just a tool. Not a pseudo penis.
We have guns at our cabin in northern Ontario, never had to use em for defense. Just use paintball guns to scare away the bears, wolves and the lot. Also bear bangers and fireworks.

At my parents place not as remote but nowhere near city or suburbia same deal, paintball guns scare bears and coyotes and the rare occasion wolves.

If an animal becomes a problem you call animal control, they deal with it. Canadians are not a shoot first society. Plus we have way more wildlife to deal with then the lower 48, coupled with the fact wildlife is much bigger up here.

Having animal control deal with it? So, if there's nowhere for the starving cougar to go - it's getting shot by animal control. How is that any different?

We were never "shoot first" either. Of course you scare them away and take precautions. When those don't work and you have a problem animal, it's easier to shoot it - rather than wait for the county trapper to have an opportunity to make it out to your house.

Animal control here doesn't deal with wild or feral animals. We have a county trapper, who is also in charge of the feral dog and hog clean up. He's a busy guy.

Use your fucking eyes man, the boy is tiny. Thats only a 50 lb cougar also.
And I assume he was walking on all fours as well?

Upright posture is upright posture, buddypalguyfriend. Don't blame me, because I don't make the rules.

No he was already in the fucking house when the cat was shot apparently.

This story is nothing more then a sickly cougar getting shot on someones property and the news turning it into a hero story for ratings.

Yes, and his upright posture probably helped him make it that far.

As far as this girl being a hero, no, she's not. But she had a permit, the animal was on her family's property, it was exhibiting behavior that was dangerous to human beings, and she saved animal control a trip and a bullet. To me, that sounds like a win-win for everyone involved except the cougar.

You and your upright posture.
Sometimes I'm also upright when I'm laying on my back. Just as your mom, eh.
