Right? People are actually trying to defend her here.

Re: Walmart Shoplifter Shot Dead by Security Guard/cop

What a load of crap.

SHE escalated the incident into a life or death struggle.

She died as a direct result of her attempting vehicular homicide on an armed officer.

SHE attempted to execute him.

Here's the deal, if you try to kill people...they might end up killing you. And justifiably so.

Mmm'kay?
she did? you mean when he pulled a gun on her

i've been trained LP before...what he did was uncalled for. would have been a different story had he accidentally shot a child that he didnt know was in the car or if she had a gun too and fired back (which happened at a store i worked at). it's just merchandise....it's not worth taking somebody's life over, especially when you can take a license plate number down and report the crime. fuck this vigilante "kill the bastards" type of mentality. you wouldnt say that kind of shit had a cop killed somebody over a traffic violation.

no, she shoplifted....he pursued her to her care with a loaded firearm. according to store regulations and according to his job description, he was in the wrong.

In response to the Walmart shoplifting shooting, the retailer issued the following statement regarding loss prevention, force and the death of Shelly Frey:

“This is a tragic situation and we recognize this is a difficult time for all parties involved. We’re committed to working with law enforcement and providing any information we have as they determine the facts of the case. Because this is an active investigation, any specific details of the incident should come from law enforcement … We hire off duty officers to provide security to some of our stores. While we have policies in place for our associates to disengage from situations that might put them or others in harm’s way, off-duty officers working at a WM store are authorized to act in accordance with their department’s code of conduct.”
http://www.inquisitr.com/431716/susp...front-of-kids/

end the end, he ended a life over a minor shoplifting offense. it's bullshit. we're not in a country where we cut people's arms off for shoplifting...there are laws.

From your own quote:

"he ended a life over a minor shoplifting offense"

No. It was over...A-T-T-E-M-P-T-E-D...M-U-R-D-E-R.

He successfully used deadly force that prevented a criminal from murdering him in an attempt to flee her crime.

Clearly, a criminal had no problem trying to end his life to get away with her crime, yet you have a problem with an innocent police officer saving his own life.

************************************************** *****

He was an armed officer who drew his weapon after he was endanged when she tried to kill him with her vehicle.

It's real easy to understand.

SHE tried to execute - with her car (Vehicular Homicide. Look it up.) - an innocent hard working cop that was working a second job trying to better his life.

As soon as she attempted to murder the officer, SHE turned a relatively minor criminal offence into a fatal situation.

The good things is that she, the guilty party, is the one that died.

you're missing the point...nobody had to die. his 'heroic' actions (trying to recover a menial amount of stolen goods) cost somebody their life. had he done what his job was at the time (he was an off duty LEO, thus he was working for Walmart at the time) and followed Walmart's regulations:

we have policies in place for our associates to disengage from situations that might put them or others in harm’s way
nobody would have gotten hurt. she may have gotten away with a few bucks worth of merchandise though.... but you're glad she's dead instead, right? instead of reporting her plate numbers and having her arrested on a warrant so she would have actually served time, he tried to be a big shot and confronted her, then pursued her to her car and shot a mother in front of her two year old.....for shoplifting. he could have stayed back and would have been in no danger....he didnt. she was wrong for shoplifting and should have been punished since she was caught...but not killed. so, if you feel cool with cops killing shoplifters in front of their children in public places, that would be your deal.

oh, give me a break....manslaughter at most...she was trying to evade somebody she thought was security guard, not a cop. she didnt aim her car toward him and try to run him down for no reason....he got into her car. his bad....if he didnt want to be in danger, he should have not put himself in it in the first place. if a LEO puts themselves into unnecessary danger and they end up killing somebody because of their lack of judgement, they are at fault.

i come from a family of cops....my grandfather was a cop, my father in law is a cop, uncles are cops....i can guarantee none of them would approve of seeing a LEO discharge a firearm in a public place under these conditions. had he been in uniform, presented his badge and made himself known as a LEO then he would have been in the right....but because he was off duty and was not under exigent circumstances to make an arrest (nor in danger other then what he unnecessarily put himself into) he should have shown restraint.

He was reacting to a pretty nasty situation and firing the trigger would have been only instinct.
