Re: Virginia Tech Shootings
Actually, the cops weren't very late. As soon as they arrived on the scene they entered the building, unlike Columbine where they decided to set up a perimeter first. This kid was able to have his 'mental health youth record' unknown because of privacy laws. Up until he reached VaTech he hadn't put anyone's life in danger. Once arriving at VaTech - him following and freaking out the one young lady and then being held for wanting to commit suicide were kept private because of privacy laws, as well. Plus, no one ever checked up on him to make sure he received mental health services after his pick-up and hold for wanting to commit suicide. I don't believe he was on any kind of pharmaceutical drugs or street drugs. He may have been on anti-depressants prior to going to VaTech, but from what I gather, not while attending the university. |
