Re: Video Shows Trooper Shooting Unarmed Man - Once a "hero" Now a Criminal. And he needs to be held accountable for that decision and action. When I watched the video it looked to me like he was just reaching towards the passenger seat into the glove box for his license. |

Re: Video Shows Trooper Shooting Unarmed Man - Once a "hero" Now a Criminal. He will be, but civilly not criminally. Unless you've been a police officer in that situation and had those experiences, then how it looked to you really isn't that relevant. Hating to sound assy, but it's not going to look the same to you as it did to that officer...you both have different frames of reference...and you have zero law enforcement training and experience. I'm just saying that you'd look at this incident very very differently if I were to put you through eighteen weeks of a basic police academy and a one year probationary period working the street. His experiences and training made him react the way he did...right or wrong, he reacted exactly like a young hot shot police officer who had recently been in a shooting. Hell, even I'd have shot that guy in the same situation, and I've got over thirty years of experience and tons more training than that officer. Just trust that this young officer reacted as he was trained to and didn't just murder that guy out of the blue. And for God's sake, if you're pulled over by police...move very slow and talk to the officer. The more comfortable the officer feels, the better the outcome of the stop. Just use common sense. |

Re: Video Shows Trooper Shooting Unarmed Man - Once a "hero" Now a Criminal. that might not be the best idea http://www.documentingreality.com/fo...d-over-147678/ In relation to the vid I was expecting more dramatic movements, expecting him to jump into the vehicle or something but no, there was no erractic movements and in this case the copper fucked up. Now here is the thing that pisses people off. The police in most nation states are not treated the same as citizens. The laws regarding self defence in most nations are based on 'precieved threat' they are not really supposed to look retrospectively but should be based on if the accused, once its been established that he/she is of 'resonable firmness', really did at the time regard it a legitimated force in relation to the precieved threat. Self defence laws tend to favour the police when it comes to court. IMO the video is damning. He did not 'dive' into the vehicle. Had the officer pulled him over with flashing lights and this guy got straight out of his car you could see a escallation. He followed him with no lights for a seatbelt violation. The guy was already out of the car, had he told him to stand still or remain where he was perhaps there would be a case for self defence but he didnt. The officer should have been closer to him before asking for his ID/licence, he really did not have a clue what was in the car and that is perhaps why he panicked. Had he gone straight into his car without being asked for his licence perhps there would be a case for self defence. Now lets face it regarless on where you stand with regard to the police it is clear this office panicked and then reacted in a panicked state. Charges will be dropped and his union will get him his job back. The victiim will get compensation. |

Re: Video Shows Trooper Shooting Unarmed Man - Once a "hero" Now a Criminal. ![]() You're ordered out of the vehicle, you're expected to stay out of the vehicle. If you're wallet is in the vehicle, and you're asked to see some ID post being ordered out of the vehicle, you don't re-enter your vehicle to retrieve your ID, you explain to the officer that your ID is still in the vehicle and await further instruction. In this case the driver broke all the above rules. And he did so with to quick of an action for the officer to execute additional verbal commands. A jumpy cop + a dumb ass not following orders = disaster |
