Re: Video Shows The Shooting of Charles Vacca by Young Girl
Oswald you are 100% correct. The instructor and the gun range screwed this up...not the little girl or her parents. By the it was a Micro Uzi not a Mini Uzi. She probably would have been ok if it had been a Mini Uzi. Maybe someone on DR was trained by the IDF on the Uzi family of weapons and can shed some light on the subject of training with that particular group of firearms?

Re: Video Shows The Shooting of Charles Vacca by Young Girl
Obviously something went wrong. But it's not as if he handed her a uzi and walked off. But to say he wasn't standing in the right place is absurd. The only thing he did wrong was taking his hand away from the weapon. So he could push it away. And by pushing it away (that's their lingo) that means pushing the weapon back towards the target area and holding it there until it's secure. Because his hands were supposed to be on the weapon. Because we don't see the entire video it's difficult to say exactly how it played out. But i wouldn't be surprised if the instructor saved that girls life. We also don't see how much training she had. |

Re: Video Shows The Shooting of Charles Vacca by Young Girl
Leave to the camo-crowd to pick gnat shit outta pepper... the POINT here is that it's a very questionable (obviously) act to allow an inexperienced NINE year-old who has had ZERO exposure to weapons of this kind. If they had taken this into account rather than think it cute to let her fire away a "fully-automatic" weapon, the guy would still be alive. I'm not anti-gun, I'm anti-stupid around guns...mkay? |

Re: Video Shows The Shooting of Charles Vacca by Young Girl
I have have trouble seeing with much detail in the video. If it were a Micro-Uzi rather than a Mini-Uzi, then it was about 5-10 times as bad a situation. For the uninitiated: People think recoil is a big problem, but it's not. When you are properly trained to lean into into the gun while firing, your body weight effectively cancels out the force of the recoil and it's very smooth firing and can be surprisingly controllable. Especially in limited round bursts. It's not rocket science but it take some instructor hours and much ammo with which to practice. This makes it an expensive proposition. Or, you could just hand an untrained person the (more or less) equivalent of an Israeli version of a MAC 10 (in 9mm)...and get shot in the head. |

Re: Video Shows The Shooting of Charles Vacca by Young Girl
Nothing 'went wrong'. It was NOT an 'accident'. This was a very predictable and completely avoidable result of his poor disastrously dangerous 'instructor' practice. He effectively handed her an UZI and walked off. It doesn't matter whether he walked off 2 ft. away or 20 feet away. He walked off because he was not in control of the situation. What part of 'SHOT IN THE HEAD' do you not understand? If you let an untrained person loose with a full auto, especially one with such an extremely high rate of fire, you will be SHOT IN THE HEAD if you stand where he stood. Being in a place where you are going to be SHOT IN THE HEAD is the very definition of 'The Wrong Place'. Dude...please... |
