No, the problem right now is rampage shooters, and not just because they kill people. They demonstrate to others just how easy it is to stock up on firearms, walk into a public place and massacre people; CHILDREN, and theres pretty much nothing anyone can do or is willing to do.

Open fire on cars on a freeway going into a major city during rush hour witb a full power bolt action rifle, that is probably the quickest way to cause that panic you're so afraid of.

You can armor all the schools, you can have security in every public location, but you can't watch every tree next to a major highway every second of rush hour.

But keep telling me about how you don't want panic while screaming at me to panic.

I could give a shit what people say 100 years from now. We're living in the present, and strangely enough that happens to be the focus of my attention.

By your own logic, the public should not be made aware of rapists, kidnappers, religious extremists, and thieves because, by Jove, it might inspire others to follow in their footsteps.


......or maybe these types of criminals, same as mass shooters, would arise sporadically REGARDLESS of how much media coverage they receive. This coverage is a double-edged sword that might risk being fodder for the next generation of fledgling rampage killers, but at the same time robs them of the element of surprise, because as more of these events take place, the rest of the population can adapt and prepare to take on these criminals as they appear.
