Mentally ill automatically means that the person in question cannot be trusted to act in a sane, or even consistent manner.

If her daughter has mental illness, she can not say that her daughter would NEVER hurt the grandchild. Mental illness makes behavior erratic.

It's not even safe to say that about someone sane.

Mother Who Pushed Dead Son on Swing Cries at Funeral

The disturbed Maryland mother who was found pushing her dead son on a public park swing seemed calm and composed in grief at the boy’s funeral on Friday — wiping away tears, singing, “This Little Light of Mine,” with mourners and holding hands with the child’s father.

“Son, the joy you brought to my life is unexplainable,” the mother, Romechia *****, wrote in the program for the funeral of her 3 year old, Ji’Aire Lee.

“I miss you so much Ji’Aire, way more than I could possibly express through words. I am slowly accepting your passing. I want you to know that I have always been extremely proud of you, and I love you until the end of time,” her note said.

*****, 24, was hospitalized for four days after police found her at a La Plata playground May 22. She had been pushing Ji’Aire’s body on a swing for hours, possibly overnight, police said. The boy’s cause of death remains unknown, and authorities are awaiting autopsy results to see if ***** might face criminal charges.

***** suffers from depression and bipolar disorder, and endured a mental breakdown in February. Her mother told the Washington Post ***** had, “some kind of psychotic episode,” in the park, and ***** herself told family members she doesn’t remember what happened to her son.

The boy’s father, James “Donnell” Lee, sought custody of his son in March because he was concerned about Simms’ mental health. He claimed she had shown bizarre and dangerous behavior, such as jumping out of a moving taxi cab.

The parents agreed to split custody just 11 days before Ji’Aire’s death, with Lee saying in court that neither of them was, “unfit,” to handle the boy.

The grieving parents still held hands at the boy’s funeral, as pallbearers brought the casket to its burial site at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton, Maryland. They also sat next to each other as mourners sang, “Come by Here, my Lord,” and joined together to lay white roses on the casket, according to the Washington Post. They left together in a hearse, with ***** holding a teddy bear.

The father is going to forever be haunted by the fact that he backed down from that "red flag" feeling he had about the mother.

Anyone who's having mental breakdowns and psychotic episodes, should not be in possession of another living being. They should also be under the direct care of someone else.

Father of 3 Year Old Found Dead in Maryland Park Swing Denied Custody, Said Mother ‘Wasn’t Fit’ to Care For Boy

Ji-Aire, 3, was found dead in a Maryland park being pushed in a swing by his mother on Friday. His father said the tragedy could have been avoided.

The disturbed Maryland mother found pushing her dead 3 year old son in a park swing last week had no business caring for the toddler, the boy's heartbroken father said.

"I'm not saying she is an unfit parent, but, at this particular time, she wasn't fit to take care of our son," James Lee told Fox 5 DC.

The father of a 3 year old boy found dead in a park swing last week, just days after the father filed for sole custody, wonders if the legal system is to blame.

The devastated dad had filed for sole custody of Ji-Aire, whom he described as his happy, "little man," days before the boy's mother Romechia ***** was discovered pushing his lifeless body in a swing for several hours on Friday.

"It came out of nowhere for me," Lee told NBC Washington.

Lee, who feared Ji-Aire's mother may be suffering from a mental illness, said the tragedy could have been avoided if he had not been denied custody in court.

"I have a stable home for him to be at," he told NBC. "I have a stable roof for him to be under, for him to have the life that he was supposed to have."

Lee said he got a frantic call from ***** two days before the boy was found dead saying he needed to rush to Waldorf, Maryland, near where her mother lives, to pick the two up.

But, she stopped answering his calls later in the day, and Lee was too late, he told reporters.

The 24 year old ***** has been hospitalized since Friday, said Diane Richardson, spokeswoman for the Charles County Sheriff's Department.

Maryland authorities are awaiting results of the toddler's autopsy before deciding whether to press charges.

The boy's body had no sign of injuries or trauma when he was found in Wills Memorial Park in La Plata, she said.

The autopsy has been performed, but the results have not yet been released, Richardson said.

Ji-Aire’s family has started an online fund-raising campaign to bury the little boy and give him a, “proper homecoming.”

It has collected almost $4,000 in two days.
