if a person feels the need to cause harm to those who lack the 'aulturistic compulsion' to tip them for doing a job they are already getting paid for, then that person is a dangerous person and shouldnt be interacting with the public at all.

Well, no one should be poisoning anyone, certainly. But the cashier at McDonalds gets paid more per hour than a server does. That's why tips are expected. See? The tips are part of the server's wages.

that's not true... the average for a cashier at McDonalds is around $7.75 per hour while the national mean for being a server is $8.95 plus tips they are both in the food service industry, so they should make the same and no tips (imo)

i have a lot of family and friends (really they are my wife's friends but ) that are servers locally and they make bank! especially if they are working as a bartender.

when i started working at Lowes, i made $8 an hour and i busted out pallet after pallet of 5 gallon paint buckets (not to mention load lumber and other heavy ass shit into other people's cars) daily and i would get my ass fired if i accepted a tip (not to mention i worked directly with the public and took phone orders as well)... how is that kind of a job less deserving of tips than a server's job?

Absolutely. The last restaurant I cooked at was also a full service bar (Artbar Bistro) and the bartenders would walk away with $75 tips from a single customer. Nothing parts people of their money faster than alcohol.
Of course cook staff do not get tips, even though we do the majority of the work

exactly...one of my wife's friends (they dont talk much anymore...) worked as a bartender part time... bitch was loaded and claimed it was all from tips. being a bartender is an awesome job if you're an attractive person with a touch of charisma people spend big money when they are drinking, no doubt

We tip our trash and mail people at Christmas.

I also tip anyone who carries a grocery bag or large item to my car for me. I cannot lift anymore.
