Re: *UPDATE* Florida to Execute Man Using Untried Lethal Injection Drug

I think the family should decide.

Some countries suck in other ways, but, I like the way they execute people

I liked Old Sparky and the firing squad, assuming they have the right person, of course.

Seems to me these "arrangements" are not so much about what happens to them. They're carefully arranged to address the issues of what happens to us -- the people who have to go on living possessing this knowledge and having to have with these (unwelcome, uninvited, difficult) experiences and events make up a part of our history.

We make these arrangements because we want to be able to cope, to go on living in a comfortable mental state about what happened or what will happen.

No?

You're right. It is.

It's like funerals and viewings. They are for the survivors.

And a belated welcome to the family

Who cares if they suffer?

Re: *UPDATE* Florida to Execute Man Using Untried Lethal Injection Drug

"The three-drug process depends on the first drug rendering the inmate unconscious and, if he is only partially unconscious, the inmate could be experiencing extreme pain," he added. "Because the second drug paralyzes him, he would be unable to cry out or show that he's in pain."

So they'll know briefly what their victim felt. I don't feel bad for them. If I thought he was innocent then I would but I don't see any reason to.
My thoughts exactly. If they suffer terribly on their way out the door I find that fitting & just.

Well as a practical matter, it would make prisoner management chaotic if the condemned anticipated and feared a painful end. That would be very hard on the "system". That would amount to cruel & unusual and so violate their constitutional rights.

Otherwise there is doubt and error. People make mistakes all the time. Innocent men are condemned to die all the time. The executioner has a job to do, but isn't necessarily a cruel person. The executioner shouldn't have to inflict pain to satisfy public opinion.
