A Massachusetts man was arrested in Vernon on Friday, accused of assaulting his pregnant girlfriend and attacking her with scissors.

Vernon police responded to a domestic disturbance on Park West Drive at 11:18 p.m. on Friday.

Police said Lance Redd, 26, of Worcester, Massachusetts, had been accused of punching and kicking his girlfriend, who is eight weeks pregnant, and attacking her with a pair of scissors.

When officers responded, Redd jumped from a second-floor window to escape police, police said.

A short time later, a K-9 team found Redd hiding in thick brush near the apartment.

Redd was taken into custody, treated at Rockville General Hospital for a broken toe he suffered when he jumped, and was brought back to the Vernon Police Department, where he was booked and processed.

Redd has been charged with second-degree assault, threatening in the second degree, unlawful restraint, breach of peace in the second degree and interfering/resist arrest. Bond was set at $250,000.

He is due in court on Monday.

He got a slap on the wrist. Lance W. Redd Jr., 25, of 53 Catharine St., Worcester, charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (knife) and larceny from a person, amended from armed robbery (knife), sentenced to two concurrent terms of 1 year in the House of Correction.

A police dog found him hiding in the bushes near a local apartment complex, police said.

A man is facing serious criminal charges after pummeling and then attacking his pregnant girlfriend with a pair of scissors during a domestic incident late Friday at the Park West apartments, police said.

At 11:18 p.m., poise responded top a domestic call at 72 Park West Drive, according to an arrest report.

When they arrived at the scene, police said they discovered that Lance Redd, 26, of 53 Catherine St., Worcester, MA, had allegedly assaulted his pregnant girlfriend. He punched and kicker her and went after her with a pair of scissors, according to an arrest report.

He jumped out of a second-floor window to evade police, but a canine unit tracked him down in an area of thick brush adjacent to the apartment complex, police said.

Redd was taken into custody, transported to Rockville General Hospital, where he was treated for a broken toe sustained in the leap out the window, and charged with second-degree assault with a victim, second-degree breach of peace, interfering with police, second-degree threatening and first-degree unlawful restraint, according to an arrest report.

He had a Monday court date after his bond was set at $250,000, police said.
