Re: Two Russian Men Are Accused of Eating Their Friend to Stay Alive

The widow of a man eaten by 'cannibal' friends has described the horror of learning her husband's fate.

Olga Kurochkina is demanding punishment for her husband Andrei Kurochkin's fishing companions who had been on a fishing trip with Andrei.

The Siberian Times reports that during the trip the four friends got lost in a remote part of the Sakha Republic. In a lie detector test, one friend Alexander Abdullaev, 37, admitted eating Andrei - but denied murdering him.

Another friend Alexei Gorulenko, 35, has exercised his right to stay silent and has not spoken to investigators. The fourth fisherman Viktor Komarov, 47, remains missing and is presumed dead.

"Olga's slender hope that her husband might still be alive was dashed by the DNA test proving that a few fragments of bone were his," the Siberian Times said.

The website quoted Ms Kurochkina as saying: "Can you imagine what I have left? One foot with toes, one finger, and the back of his skull with some hair. This is it.

"This is all I have left from the man I loved. Having just these remains, how can I say goodbye to him? I have got almost nothing to cry over...sorry, I can't think about it, I am losing my mind with this.

"Now I am sure they have eaten him. Now we know that Andrei died somewhere else and they dragged the body all the way through the snow, eating it step by step. But together with the remains of my husband there were also found the bones of animals.

"It means only one thing - they kept hunting somehow and if so, probably they were not that desperate.
"I know the word 'extreme' may mean different things to different people but honestly, if they could kill animals, why would they need to try eating a human body? And why - for God's sake - did they carry his head with them?"

Re: Two Russian Men Are Accused of Eating Their Friend to Stay Alive

Reminds me of this story

In 1838, future horror-god Edgar Allan Poe released a book called The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket, his only full novel. The book was such a bomb that Poe eventually agreed with his critics that it was "a very silly book" (yet still good enough to inspire heavyweights like Jules Verne and Herman Melville to write Moby Dick and An Antarctic Mystery--yes, Poe was a badass).

Poe did a Blair Witch thing with his novel, which claimed to be based on true events. This turned out to be a half-truth: The real life events simply had not happened yet.

One scene in The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket visits a whaling ship lost at sea, taking with it all but four crewmen. Out of food, the men drew lots to see who would be eaten, the unfortunate decision landing on a young cabin boy named Richard Parker.

Forty-six years later, there was an actual disaster at sea involving the Mignonette. It became famous due to the legal consequences of some gruesome events on board, specifically the way the men drew lots and decided to eat their cabin boy...

Where it Gets Even Weirder:

...who was named Richard Parker.

The bizarre story was discovered decades later by Nigel Parker, a distant cousin of the Richard Parker who got eaten. You can only imagine what the fuck went through his mind when he stumbled upon the connection.

I was thinking the same thing, sort of.

Some people never know what happened to their loved ones.

It sounds like something Vincent Price should have had a role in, may he rest in peace.
