I agree, but it's like the drug trade, they're just providing a service that people are willing to pay for.

Just how bad is it that they're willing to knowingly risk their life to leave? What are they running from? Where are they coming from and why is it worse now?

Canada had a big role in the Libya "liberation" and I'm ashamed to say that. We created a chaotic situation and just walked away from it, and this is the result.

ISIS organized this on purpose when countries started tightening up on immigration. Guilt's them into throwing open their doors lest this happens again. Western Guilt trip..works all the time.

Germany will accommodate as many immigrants as make their way to the country, so says the head of the country’s Federal Office for Migration and Refugees Manfred Schmidt.

Speaking to the German newspaper Der Spiegel, Schmidt acknowledged that the numbers of people coming into Germany has quadrupled in the last year, with 800,000 asylum applications expected in 2015.
“Probably these figures are still rising,” he said, in a stark admission that there is no end in sight to the hundreds of thousands making their way into Europe.
While many of the would-be immigrants come from Syria, Schmidt also acknowledged the case for refugee and asylum status being based on economic hardship – one of the greatest concerns of the proponents of controlled immigration to Europe.
If Europe opens the doors to those who are defined as living in poverty, this would mean billions of people would have valid asylum claims for European nations.

The crucial answer however, came when he was asked how many refugees Germany can continue to absorb:
“It can be used for the inclusion of people who are fleeing persecution and need protection, giving no limit upwards,” he said. Echoing the statements made this weekend by French Prime Minister Manuel Valls.

Czech President Calls for Army to Defend Border Against Migrants

The Czech Republic should defend its borders, using the army to expel “illegal immigrants” because the European Union isn’t curbing the influx of refugees into the bloc, President Milos Zeman said.
Zeman’s comments echoed those of other politicians calling for the EU to take action to stem the flood of people into the region from Syria and other conflict areas as they travel through Greece and the Balkan states to western Europe.
“Of course I would wish for the EU to strengthen its borders, but I don’t see any real action,” Zeman told reporters in Prague castle on Monday. “Therefore I believe the Czech Republic should take of its borders alone and expel illegal immigrants from the borders, including with the use of the army.”
The refugee crisis has escalated in central Europe this month, with Austrian police finding a Hungarian-licensed truck containing the bodies of 71 migrants last week. Scores more drowned when their boats capsized off the coast of Libya. Most refugees traveling to the EU pass through former communist countries as they head to Germany and other richer states.

I don't know about other poor countries, but Macedonia tried- and they got harsh criticism from the EU and then humanitarians got involved.
