There was one case I remember reading about from NYC area. Baby found beaten to death.....nobody identified, claimed the child and the case went cold. Many years later after an arrest for unrelated charges a woman came clean saying she had been a homeless drug addict that had turned to prostitution, given birth on the street after becoming knocked up by a client or raped by her pimp....something like that. Well the pimp eventually killed the baby to punish the woman for something and dumped the body.

She testified in court against him in exchange for a reduced sentence and immunity on the murder charges.

Had she not been arrested, that baby would have remained unidentified.

No kidding.
The way some people live is mind boggling. Hard for me to relate and feel compassion although the woman probably deserves it.
Although she is an adult(hopefully), the mind of an abused doesn't work quite right
