They could pull dna samples from bones. Since these werent full skeletal remains the bones should still contain marrow as decomposition is not complete and it breaks down similar to tissue and organs. Teeth as well since the baby should have at least retained its adult teeth within the skull even if the baby teeth had been pulled or knocked out. That would give them a good untainted sample from the victim.

If it was the mother arrested they could definitely have a mitochondrial dna match but if it is the dad I imagine a match could be inconclusive.

Agreed, reading news like this breaks my heart the most. Every life is important, but when it involves children, its so much worse. The whole life they had ahead of them has reached an abrupt stop. I try my best to remain optimistic about us as humans. If it wasn't for the good people in the world, would of lost my faith in humanity a long time ago.
