Tennessee woman defends walking down aisle with baby on train of wedding dress

A Tennessee woman has fired back at critics for the unusual way she included her baby daughter in her recent wedding.

Shona Carter-Brooks, of Jackson, TN, secured her 1 month old daughter on the train of her wedding dress as she walked down the aisle. Carter Brooks, who married Johnathan Brooks at the Elam Baptist Church in Ripley, TN, last weekend, walked down the aisle with her daughter dragging behind wrapped in the enormous amount of material on her David's Bridal dress by Vera Wang, according to her Facebook page.

A company spokeswoman told The News it was not actually a Vera Wang dress after a close review of the photographs.

No injuries were reported for the baby, who was reportedly secured in the train of Shona Carter-Brooks’ dress.

The negative Internet comments — presumably by people not in attendance at the ceremony — began pouring out, including from website Clutchmagonline.com, which labeled the incident "Another Wedding WTF."

"She dumb as hell! Her and her husband," wrote one commenter. "That poor child born to 2 supreme idiots."

The answer is we do what we want, when we want long as Jesus on our side everything worked out fine and gone continue to be fine.

"Lol, if she wanted to include the baby, why not just carry the child and hold her during the ceremony?" wrote another. "They're doing too much."

No video from the wedding has been released, so it's not clear how quickly the baby was brought down the aisle or if she was jostled from the dress. There are no reports of injuries to the child.

The girl is only 1 month old and critics slammed her mother for how she was included in the wedding.

But, Carter Brooks fired back at the criticism on her Facebook page by letting her friends know she is not letting the negative comments ruin her recent nuptials.

"FB family & friends we are outstanding! See we not weary in well doing, for in due season this too shall pass!" she wrote Friday. "We rejoicing for we're too driven to be drowned, victorious to be defeated, and content for God is able! We love you all for your support, love, and encouraging words."

A Tennessee woman made a few alterations to her wedding dress...which included an infant. Shona Carter-Brooks apparently thought it wise to strap her newborn...

She did not return a message seeking comment, but addressed her decision on the social media site to incorporate her newborn into the ceremony, and added the baby was awake and well secured in her dress.

"The answer is we do what we want, when we want long as Jesus on our side everything worked out fine and gone continue to be fine," she wrote. "Most important while y'all got ya feelings in us we had our hearts in Christ which covers all!! So keep ya mouths running for it was just that."

She later joked she was glad she and her husband were not celebrities and then wrote, "oops got fans, guess we is!"

She also wrote her father told her, "folks need to get a life!" and Facebook was not the proper medium to solve people’s issues.

She trips over, someone steps on the train and the whole thing becomes a case for child services with the baby in the hospital or even dead. Why put your child in this situation in the first place?
