Thieves Break in to House But End Up Leaving Money
Thieves broke into a 91 year old pensioner's home but after realising how poorly she lived, they left her 500 roubles to help her make ends meet. The intruders turned the Russian war veteran's home upside down in the Kirovsky region. But instead of making off with her worldly possessions, the pensioner found nothing missing and the Russian currency - equal to around £11 - amid the mess. ![]() 'All my boxes had been opened, the windows smashed, my flowerpots knocked over - but nothing was missing,' said Zinaida Makarova. 'It seems the thieves realised how poorly I live and decided not the take anything - but help instead.' Amid the mess, she found a handwritten note saying: 'This is to help you get by, old lady.' Beside the note from the thieves was a 500 rouble note. Local policeman Anatoly Gorbunov said: 'In 40 years in the force, I've never seen such a burglary.' Now Zinaida has framed the note from her kindly burglars, and is using the money to buy sweets for her great grandchildren. |
