Texas Private School Principal Faces Jail for 'letting Her Dog's Leg Rot'
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/nati...icle-1.1509378 A Texas private school principal facing jail time over allegations she let her dog's leg rot away and fall off calls animal cruelty charges "unfair." Rosa Martinez is accused of neglecting three other Maltese poodle mixes to the point that one suffered lost limbs and exposed bone because she was too busy with work at The Tenney School in Houston. The 57-year-old was arrested Monday after she brought her three small dogs to the Bureau of Animal Regulation and Care. The worst off, a female brown and tan Maltese poodle named Rainy, reportedly had a severely rotted right back leg which appeared to have fallen off, leaving a bony stump. Her left paw was also reduced to the bone, which vets later amputated after it started giving off a foul stench. An online fundraising site for Rainey showcased recovery efforts and disturbing photos of the dog's condition, while raising more than $5,800 toward the dog's amputation, reconstructive surgery and prosthesis costs. "Despite all of this she is the sweetest, gentlest little girl who loves to be in your lap!" the post describes her. A second dog belonging to Martinez was found suffering from a chronic ear infection and chronic staph. A third was severely underweight and suffering from sores, according to police. ABC reports that Martinez told cops she "had trouble" taking care of the dogs because of her busy schedule that included work with nonprofits. But she claimed the allegations of neglect were "totally unfair." "It really upsets me," Martinez told KTRK. "I know you have to have advocates to protect them. In my case, it's not fair. I didn't do anything wrong." All three pups have since been released to Red Collar Rescue for treatment. Martinez, who posted $3,000 bond, could be imprisoned for two years if convicted. The Tenney School has refused to comment on the allegations. ************************ There are more photos of the poor dog at the link. I didn't want to post them here because I'm not sure if they violate the rule against posting animal cruelty here. |

Those pictures were rough. What type of person thinks that is ok? What kind of crap have those kids had to put up with from a principal with apparently zero empathy? If my pet gets so much as a weird bump, they are at the vet the very next paycheck. |

What a lazy, uncaring bitch! If you are too tight to spend the money to get the pet taken care of don't let it suffer and walk around with a rotten leg, put it down! |

Says she didn't do anything wrong, she didn't do ANYTHING that's her problem. Get sick of people who refuse to take care of there animals , a pet gives you everything it possibly can and in return they deserve to be well taken care of. I am still a firm believer that if convicted for animal cruelty you can never have another pet and it should be on a national level. Fucking worthless life support system for a cunt. |

Re: Texas Private School Principal Faces Jail for 'letting Her Dog's Leg Rot'
I had a toy poodle, Bella. She passed away summer of 2012. She was a sweet puppy. I had to keep up on her hair trimmings because poodle fur can get really matted, which is what I think happened in this case. The hair gets so tangled that air can't get to the skin and that ends up causing problems. This poor dog must have been in constant pain. This woman should certainly never be allowed to have a pet again and I don't think 2 years is long enough.

I agree but take it further. I think if you are found guilty of animal cruelty, whatever you did to the animal should then be done back to you X2. If the lesson is not learned and they do it again, then they get a bullet in the back of the head.
