a few weeks I think, but I could be wrong..
i rememeber the news hitting when he was missing but never heard any follow up...

such is life with these kind of stories though, you always hear the horror of something like this happening and then dont hear closure or a follow up....

That's not a Volkswagen engine. It looks like a Lycoming.....The accessory case is at the bottom of the picture. The other end would carry the propeller, but it probably sheared off on impact. The orange colored tubing is what is left of the engine mount. The small tubes running from the object at the center of the engine case are either the fuel injection system, or the priming system. I would say the fuel injection system, as the priming system is usually simpler. This is the top of the engine, indicated by the lift ring that is at the center top area.
