I'm the author of infamous post 41

No idea wtf happened there.... it was the update with the police releasing the name of the cop (Darren Wilson), and the chief saying that Brown was matching the description of the suspect in a robbery: a video, some quoted text and another video: the post was showing correctly in preview, but as i hit "Submit reply".... voilà! Post showing but "Home" "Quick" "Select" "Edit" buttons were gone: i noticed that someone else was posting after me, but yet the thread was stuck at #41. As the mods were merging this thread with another one, i didn't care to report the issue. Thanks mods for fixing it!

Back to topic, apparently in the afternoon press conference the Police chief (Jackson) stated that Wilson stopped Brown and a friend because "they were in the middle of the street, blocking traffic," but hours later Jackson himself told a slightly different story to CNN and NBC: he said that "initially stopped Brown for blocking traffic, but as he began driving past Brown, he noticed Brown was holding cigars."
Strange that he didn't mention this detail before, since he was supposed to be already aware of it since days. If they've filed a report that day, the cigars have to be mentioned there.

Anyway, not a big loss in my opinion and rioting and looting has nothing to do with protesting in a civil manner.

Quote:
FERGUSON, Mo. — Michael Brown was identified as a suspect in a strong-arm robbery of a box of cigars moments before he was shot to death by Officer Darren Wilson, police said Friday.

In an afternoon press conference, Ferguson, Mo. Police Chief Thomas Jackson said Wilson did not initially make a connection between the robbery and Brown, whose death spurred violent protests and unrest in the St. Louis suburb over the past week.

Wilson stopped Brown and a friend because "they were in the middle of the street, blocking traffic," Jackson said.

Hours later, however, Jackson told a slightly different story to CNN and NBC, saying that Wilson noticed Brown was carrying a box of cigars that had been reported stolen. Wilson, he said, initially stopped Brown for blocking traffic, but as he began driving past Brown, he noticed Brown was holding cigars.

At that point, Wilson "made the connection" that Brown might have been involved in a theft that had just been broadcast on police radio, Jackson said.

Jackson earlier released Wilson's name along with information that Brown was a suspect in the previous robbery. He said he released surveillance video tape and documents related to the robbery to satisfy freedom of information requests from the public.

His decision to release both bits of information at the same time has come under fire by residents and Brown supporters who said the police were trying to divert attention away from Wilson and justify the shooting by blaming Brown.

Jackson would not say why he released the information when he did the way he did, other than to say he was responding to freedom of information requests from the public about the robbery.

Benjamin Crump, an attorney for Brown's family, told USA TODAY the release of the officer's name alongside a robbery report naming Brown as a suspect "smoke and mirrors."

"There was nothing based on the facts that have been placed before us that would justify this execution style murder by this police officer in broad daylight," Crump said. "It's not enough that they assassinated him in broad daylight in the middle of the street. They also have to assassinate his character to try to get away with it."

He said police were trying to divert the public's attention from the crux of the issue. He added that police only releasing photos of the robbery suspect and not Wilson shows that the department will not be transparent.

He said Brown's family believes the police strategically waited to release the officer's name to justify the fatal shooting.

Re: St. Louis Riots After Cop Kills Unarmed Teen

He did not deserve to die, yet clearly he was no angel.
Releasing the store video is important, as it shows the character of this kid.

Perhaps when this officer stopped the kids and told them to get out of the road, some of that rage we saw in the store video came out in relating to the officer. After all, the kid knew he just stole items from that store, so in his head, the officer was stopping him for that very reason.

As for the fucking idiots rioting and tearing down their own city again, last night, because of the release of the store video, shows the mentality of the crowd. It's as if him stealing and man handling that store clerk was OK and just another day in the life of this thug.

I'm glad the world now knows the truth about this kid's character. Certainly makes me question what really went down between him and the officer.

Re: St. Louis Riots After Cop Kills Unarmed Teen

That store that Brown robbed was looted last night. What a surprise. These thugs should be jailed. Why that city is pulling it's police force out is insane. They are just giving the looters and protesters the city. Allowing them to do as they wish. Break any law and steal whatever they wish.
And those who say that video doesn't have anything to do with the shooting. It may be the case the officer didn't know about it. But if all these people want to get on camera and say he was a gentle giant. That he never harmed anyone and was a upstanding citizen. That video is important because it shows that's not the case. They said he was on his way to college That's false. He was on his way to prison.
Doesn't mean he should have been shot. But if they want to portray him as this angel. It's only fair that the portrayal is accurate.
