Death toll now at 321 and 500 injured.
Sri Lanka's Health Ministry has lowered the death toll from the Easter suicide bombings to about 253, one day after police said 359 people had died since the attacks.
The number of people killed was an estimate due to the extent of the damage to the victims' bodies, Anil Jayasinghe, the director general of health services, said in a statement on Thursday.
Jayasinghe added that the number of injured had also been reduced drastically, to 149 from 485.
Police have not yet reflected this change in their official toll from Sunday's bombings, which targeted three churches, three luxury hotels and two other locations.
