Has been confirmed just now in a press conference by the Munich police that it was not terrorism related but an amok run. He is an 18 yr old German Iranian guy suffering from depression (was in stationary care previousy). He was born in Munich, had 300 further bullets in his bag and eventually shot himself in the head.

The 10 dead people are mostly teens, apart from one person (aged 45).

There is a rumour at the moment that he hacked a Facebook account and created a event invite for McDonalds for people to come and that he would pay for their meals if not too expensive. This is currently further investigated.

The 18-year-old German-Iranian man who opened fire in a crowded Munich shopping mall and a nearby McDonald's, killing 9 people and wounding 16 others before killing himself, has been named in reports as Ali Sonboly.

Posing as a teenage girl called 'Selina Akim', Sonboly is thought to have used messages posted on a fake Facebook account to lure young victims to their death with fraudulent offers of free food just hours before his murderous rampage began.

Police gave a "cautious all clear" early on Saturday morning, more than seven hours after the attack began, and brought much of the city to a standstill as all public transit systems were shut down amid a massive manhunt. They said a body found near the scene was that of the shooter and he appeared to have acted alone.

Munich police chief Hubertus Andrae told a news conference the suspect was a dual citizen from Munich and his motive was still "fully unclear".

Three of the dead were Turkish nationals, the country's foreign ministry has confirmed.

And the Greek foreign ministry has also confirmed that one of its citizens died in the rampage.

Kosovan media reported that three of the victims were of Kosovan origin. Naim Zabergja, the father of one of the victims wrote on Facebook: “With great sadness I want to inform you that my son Dijamant Zabergja, 21, was killed yesterday in Munich.”

A second victim was named by her brother on Facebook as Armela Segashi, who he said died along with a third, Sabina Sulaj.

Police found a book on spree killings in the attacker’s bedroom.

The 18-year-old Iranian German who killed 9 people in a shooting spree in Munich has “no links” to Islamic State and appears to be a “classic lone gunman" who may have been inspired by the Norway killer Anders Breivik.

Police also thought it likely that yesterday’s five-year anniversary of Anders Breivik’s attacks on the island of Utoya played a role in the attack.

“We consider this to be a classic lone gunman without political motivation,” said Thomas Steinkraus-Koch, Munich’s chief prosecutor. A link to terrorism has been ruled out.

The 18-year-old, who was born and raised in Munich, carried a 9mm Glock of unknown origin and still had some 300 rounds of ammunition left in his rucksack when he killed himself. Mr Stainkraus-Koch also said it was he had apparently been treated for depression.

Police also said the shooter may have hacked another person’s Facebook account and tried to lure people to the McDonald’s where he later opened fire by advertising free food.

The shooter’s victims are mostly children and young people who lived in Munich and the city’s surrounding regions. Among the dead are three 14-year-olds and two 15-year-olds. The other victims were 17, 19, 21 and 45 years old. Of the 27 injured, 10 were still in a serious condition, police said.

Police chief Hubertus Andrä also stressed that there was “no link whatsoever” to the subject of refugees.

They're not. The floors in Westgate did not have that pattern on them :-)
