I think it's just less interesting to a lot of people now that the killer is caught. Was a mystery, now it's not. The possible "hate crime" angle was extra juice but frankly it's kinda more interesting (to me anyway) that it's muslim on muslim action.

I think you misunderstand about "how quickly it died". I wasn't speaking of the number of sources that spoke on the incident. I was speaking of the longevity of the story compared to other similar stories. If it wasn't for the fact that it was a muslim on muslim crime, you wouldn't hear the end of the story for months (or longer). But since the culprit was a muslim, the story fizzled out because it doesn't fit the narrative that the media wants to put out.

Also, muslim on muslim crime is actually the standard outside of the West. It's been going on since the beginning of Islam. Nothing new, frankly.
