“A teenage girl and an adult woman were killed by a gunman in a shooting at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School in St. Louis, Missouri, on Monday morning, according to authorities.

The gunman "was quickly stopped by police," there was an exchange of gunfire and the suspect has also died, according to the St. Louis Public School District and St. Louis police.

The shooting was reported at about 9:10 a.m. local time, police said. As students fled the building, they reported that a gunman was armed with a long gun, police said.

Authorities did not say how the gunman entered the building but police stressed that the school's doors were locked.

Seven security guards were in the school, according to St. Louis Schools Superintendent Kelvin Adams. Officials said security staff identified the suspect’s efforts to enter the school and immediately notified other staff.

Several victims were hospitalized with injuries including gunshot wounds and shrapnel, police said.

The suspect appeared to be about 20 years old, police said.

Police said "the scene is secure and there is no active threat."”

Gunman was ‘tired of everybody’ after graduating last year.

Orlando Harris, 19, entered Central Visual and Performing Arts high school in St. Louis, Missouri, on Monday morning around 9am

Dressed all in black, Harris reportedly told students: 'You're all going to die' - before opening fire.

Harris killed a veteran female teacher, Jean Kirk Kuczka, 61, and a 16-year-old female student, Alexandria Bell.

Harris was then shot and killed by police, and Michael Sack, commissioner of St Louis police, praised the responding officers.

He would not comment on how Harris got into the school: the doors were supposedly locked, and there were seven armed guards on site.

first image is Jean Kuczka, 61, taught health and physical education at the magnet school. She had been with St. Louis Public Schools since 2002 and taught for 18 years before that at Seven Holy Founders, a Catholic school in south St. Louis County that is now a campus of Holy Cross Academy.

Her passion is helping kids,’ her daughter Abbey said Monday afternoon. ‘She loved making a difference, informing students and the younger generation about health and being healthy, and playing sports and working as a team.

‘I believe that every child is a unique human being and deserves a chance to learn,’ Kuczka wrote. ‘I also believe that health is the most awesome subject in school, because, without your health, you cannot live to your fullest potential.’

Tears streamed down Andre Bell's face when he got the heartbreaking telephone call Monday morning.
‘It's a nightmare,’ Bell said. His 15-year-old daughter Alexandria Bell had been shot & killed in her classroom at Central Visual & Performing Arts High School in south St. Louis.

‘My daughter's mother called me and that's how I found out. I didn't initially think the call was real,’ Bell said. ‘Alexandria was my everything. She was joyful, wonderful and just a great person,’ he said.
Alexandria was a 10th grader at Central VPA.
Her dad said she had an outgoing personality, loved to dance & was a member of her high school's junior varsity dance team. ‘She was the girl I loved to see & loved to hear from. No matter how I felt, I could always talk to her & it was alright. That was my baby.’

‘I really want to know how did that man get inside the school? I'm just trying to find some answers. My daughter was planning on coming out here to California and celebrate her birthday with me on Nov. 18, but now we have to plan her funeral.’
