Re: Russia Says It Just Test-Fired An Intercontinental Ballistic Missile
Paranoia, maybe, but Russia will never give up Crimea. It also refuses to acknowledge the legitimacy of the new government in Kiev. But the real question is whether or not it wants to get its hands back on neighboring countries which also happen to be NATO allies.

Re: Russia Says It Just Test-Fired An Intercontinental Ballistic Missile
I don't see what the USA can do, trade sanctions by the US won't effect the Russian economy, that would be down to Europe. Germany virtually depends on Russia for its gas, France is manufacturing militarily ships for Russia and the UK has some very big Russian financiers operating here....So they are gonna be cagey around sanctions.

Re: Russia Says It Just Test-Fired An Intercontinental Ballistic Missile
One of Russia's officials has already publicly stated that one possible response to sanctions would be for them to drop the USD as a reserve currency, but the Kremlin hasn't endorsed that statement as being an official stance. It would also do great damage to Russia's sluggish economy, and bring recession upon Europe. The USD is the standard oil capital, so abandoning it would hit Russia's energy revenues hard. But the U.S. could go another route and start ramping up domestic oil production. It would effect Russia's economy without a single sanction having to be levied. |

Putin said it best (I'm paraphrasing) when he mentioned Americas need to constantly have an enemy in the world so they can continue to have so-called justifiable excuses to police the world.

That is a rational solution and we all know rationale is like kryptonite to our government. Domestic oil production would also eliminate the excuses needed for the government to raise gas prices. |

This Ukrainian thing just shows the media for what it is. Bloodlust and war mongering. Everytime some shit is going down in a major way all the big head news anchors head over for a jolly. Always happens. They want the chance to come "within millimeters" of dying and win an award. |
