Nicole Delian sometimes only wakes up to eat and once slept for 64 days, missing both Christmas and Thanksgiving.
And when she wakes up, Nicole has no idea where she has been for the time she's been sleeping.
The disorder, known as Kleine-Levin Syndrome -- or 'Sleeping Beauty Syndrome' - causes Nicole to sleep as much as 17 or 18 hours every night and was first diagnosed when she was eight.
‘We took her from doctor to doctor, they still couldn’t figure out what it was,' said mother Vicki Delian. ‘One doctor even said she was doing it for attention’
‘She has slept form 34 to 64 days straight, only waking up to eat,' she added.
‘We have to ease her back in gently because it really bothers her when she realises she missed Christmas again. It’s devastating for her.'
There is no known cure for the illness, which has been described as a cross between epilepsy and narcolepsy.
But Nicole is able to space out her episodes of sleep using medicine.

there's nothing wrong with her - sleeping for 64 hours is my average weekend. maybe if she switches from hash to grass she'll feel more energized.

only woke up too eat in sleep walking mode. How about going to the toilet and wash herself as she will smell like a bear that woke up from hybernation.

She took potty breaks. Nothing on the cleanliness issue! See below.

Check her belly button, lol!

*Pennsylvania Teenager Sleeps For 64 Days Straight *

Imagine existing mostly in a dreamworld, with interludes of sleepwalking to eat, drink, and use the bathroom. Is it a burden or a blessing? Daily Mail reports:

A Pennsylvania teenager slept for 64 days from Thanksgiving into January — her longest sleeping episode yet. Nicole Delien, 17, struggles with a rare sleep disorder called Kleine-Levine, or ‘Sleeping Beauty Syndrome’.

During her sleep spells, she will wake up in a confused state for small periods of time to eat and go to the bathroom and then fall back to sleep. Nicole’s mother, Vicki, says her daughter will sleep 18 to 19 hours a day, and when she eventually wakes up to eat she is in a ‘sleepwalking state which she doesn’t remember’.

A doctor at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was able to pinpoint the disorder and offer some suggestions on how to manage it, including medication.

Affected individuals may go for a period of weeks, months or even years without experiencing any symptoms, and then they reappear with little warning. The cause of Kleine-Levin Syndrome is unknown.
