Sia Ka Tian, 70, couldn't believe it when he found the huge sum of money which had been misplaced by a couple on holiday in Singapore.
After dropping them off a shopping centre in the city, the veteran cabbie returned to his depot where he found the cash on his backseat in a black paper bag.
He later handed over the loot to his company's lost property department before the couple reported the money missing.
'When I saw the money, I thought, trouble is here,' he told the Singapore Straits Times.
'The money is unimportant to me. It doesn't belong to me, so how can I use it?'
A company spokesman added: 'Finding $1million dollars in cash is not an everyday affair and in fact, we wonder how many people would have possibly been tempted to pocket it.
'We are immensely proud of him and are glad that the passengers recovered their money.'
Mr Tian received a cash reward from the grateful couple for his honesty and has also been honoured with an award for good service.
