They were 17, not 12! Any jail time is ridiculous, 22 years is a travesty! She should lose her job and possibly not be allowed to teach minors ever again/for a determined period of time.

What she did was inappropriate but not a crime. If it was a 30 year old male teacher fucking some 17 year old student sluts I would say the same thing.

I've said it a few times... Florida is the biggest shit hole in the western world. Almost all the fucked up stories come from there.

It's usually either letting someone go who is clearly guilty or giving someone a massive sentence for something minor.

Society doesn't pound that into their heads, like they do with females.

Not to disregard trauma from sexual assault, but I wonder how many are ok with these adult/teen relationships until it's pounded into their heads that they were victimized horribly and will be damaged for the rest of their lives?

Why is it that in other countries, teens and adults are perfectly capable of having normal, full relationships? It happens in America too, but it has to be kept quiet.


A teenaged guy is often just as manipulative, if not more, when trying to get in a girl's pants. "He said he loved me!" This teen does not get into trouble for his deception for sex. He is old enough to know not to lie. It does not damage the girl more to be lied to by her peer love, than her older love. It's often outside influences that inform her on how she should feel. It doesn't seem right to me....

It's 18 in California.

I find it hilarious when the older party gets blackmailed into prolonging the relationship, because the younger party threatens to tell, if they break up, or don't get what they want.

There's usually a provision in the law where it's legal to have sex with someone under 18 as long as you're not in a position of authority.

It was 14 in Canada until recently, I think it's 16 now unless you're in a position of "trust" then it's 18.

I don't know, I would have been happy to fuck her when I was 17, but I can see what they're trying to prevent happening.
It's always been a huge double standard with sentencing in this kind of case, if it's a man doing it under the same circumstances he's always portrayed as a monster.

What I think is fucked up is cases where an 18 year old gets in trouble for statutory rape for having sex with someone a year or 2 younger.
