This is dumb. If she was that bothered, then don't speak with the creepy guy anymore. That is just vindictive behavior. Next time I am at a bar and some dude gets all "I love you man" and puts his arm around me, I'm callin the cops. By all means, let's spend more money policing non-threatening behavior.

The law is simple enough:

"In Pennsylvania, a person can be charged with harassment for an action they take that has an intent to harass, annoy or alarm another person."


This law is employed here to protect a vulnerable (probably freaked-out) woman, her pregnancy and soon (god willing) baby. I, for one, welcome a lil social chivalry.

And, com'on, it seems totally justified to me in this scenario:

Strange man enters the pregnant woman's home and proceeds to engage in what may be considered "intimate" and unwelcome physical contact.

She was in her home; its not like she could have gone (or should have to go) anywhere to get away from him, ya? Likewise, as her pregnant condition is increasingly heavy and she will soon have a newborn to protect, she should not have to worry about having him repeat that sort of behavior anytime in say, the next 22 years or so. That's why they prosecuted the guy.

The only unique aspect here is that:


"... rarely if ever has the law been applied to unwanted belly-touching and other physical contact aimed at pregnant women."

Walking up and touching ANYONE when they don't want you too is creepy, regardless of sex, age, or pregnancy.
