Oil Leaking into Yellowstone River
Exxon Pipeline Leaking Oil into Yellowstone River Updated: Saturday, 02 Jul 2011, 3:27 PM CDT Published : Saturday, 02 Jul 2011, 3:27 PM CDT (The Wall Street Journal) BILLINGS, Mont. - Exxon Mobil Corp. said Saturday that a company-owned pipeline has leaked an undetermined amount of crude oil into the Yellowstone River. The Texas-based oil giant said it discovered the leak early Saturday morning. Exxon said it "deeply regrets this release" and that it is working with local authorities to mitigate the impact. The leak took place in a 12-inch crude pipeline that runs from Silver Tip, Mont., to Billings. The pipeline has been shut down. Exxon said it doesn't yet know what caused the incident, and is still trying to determine how much oil was released. "We recognize the seriousness of this incident and are working hard to address it," the company said. Read more: http://www.myfoxhouston.com/dpps/new...#ixzz1R3BmqrdJ |

Re: Oil Leaking into Yellowstone River
How sad, I hope they'll clear ASAP. Their spokeswoman said that the pipe leaked an estimated 750 to 1,000 barrels of oil for about a half-hour before it was shut down, Other Exxon officials had estimated up to 42,000 gallons of crude oil escaped (42 gallons per barrel = 1,000 barrels). Of course it wasn't just a drop http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/...20076502.shtml |

Re: Oil Leaking into Yellowstone River
Your comment is childish and ignorant. A pipeline is used to convey a fluid from point A to point B or C,D,E... ect. if needed. Saying "WHY would you put a fucking pipeline anywhere NEAR a fucking river in the fucking first place?" is like saying, "WHY would you put a fucking road anywhere NEAR a fucking river in the fucking first place?" Accidents happen... until you or Al Gore invent a car that runs on Hope, Dreams, and Bullshit you gotta have oil; and that oil has to be transported. |

Re: Oil Leaking into Yellowstone River
I don't know that it is... It's more like building a road next a river that only trucks carrying liquid ammonia can drive on. Although liquid ammonia may be worse...Regardless, its still a highly toxic substance that can instantly destroy an ecosystem. And even though the ecosystem will, as it has always been the case, bounce back, its still senseless destruction. And the only reason I'm chiming in here is b/c I dont think its fair to associate pro-environmentalism with Al Gore, or democrats, or whatever... |

Re: Oil Leaking into Yellowstone River
Al Gore is a douche-bag who is profiting from environmentalism, period. This self-righteous fucker has the balls to tell everyone they should be FORCED into hybrids while he owns a fleet of Suburban SUVs. He is more interested in profiting from polluters than stopping them. Research it.
