Re: North Korean Soldier Defected in a Hail of Bullets
The best thing that huddle of NK soldiers in the video could have done was just follow him across. I understand in the news they have all been arrested and replaced. Probably in a gulag with their entire families by now. Poor fucks......

Re: North Korean Soldier Defected in a Hail of Bullets
Because native sources (Korean) are better: http://news.donga.com/List/PoliticsN...115/87270965/1 The picture in the link gives a more precise summary of what happened in relation to crossing the DMZ. I don't think so at all. SK doesn't give one shit (please excuse the language) about getting into a firefight with the North, that I'm 100% positive of. Please don't get the impression that the South just took cover like some little girls. I'm not saying that's your idea but just to be clear. Skirmishes between the North and South are common (moreso at sea). They are not all highly publicized though. I'm not sure what you mean by turn 'ugly real quick'. If you mean more sanctions, then yes. But if you think just killing a few soldiers (on either side) will lead to war then I suggest doing more research on the situation between the North and the South. You could even watch the popular SK movie, JSA, to get caught up as well. Oh no, that would gotten them shot for sure. One of the concerns the SK internet wants addressed is why the South's response was so slow. If you look at the picture in the link I posted, it took the South 25 min. to response to the NK soldier. The picture specifically states that 25 minutes elapsed between the time the South noticed the NK soldier collapsed (and dying) and when they dragged him off. Hard to believe and I also agree with most of the concerned SK citizens, that was WAY too long a wait for action. Edit: Here is an article from donga in English for you: http://english.donga.com/Home/3/all/26/1130998/1 So, as you can see, it is not so simple to say they just did what they were supposed to do. Most Koreans, as do I, expected the NK soldiers to get shot as soon as they crossed the line! I wrote that it struck me as odd in my initial response but my inner feeling was much stronger. |
