New Billboards in Phoenix
Phoenix is getting three new billboards as part of a national campaign designed to raise awareness about the Islamic religion. The Islamic Circle of North America recently put up billboards in several cities, including two in Phoenix. The idea is to counter negative images of Islam and dispel myths about Muslims. "This campaign is for Muslims and for people from all faiths," Naeem Baig, the executive director of ICNA, said in an interview last month. He said it is important for people to understand that Islam and the life of the Prophet Muhammad are about "compassion, mercy, helping the poor and needy." The billboards invite people to "ask any question" by calling 877-WHY-ISLAM or visiting www.WhyIslam.org. The three new billboards join two other that are already in place -- one on Interstate 17 near the Bethany Home Road exit, the other farther north near the Glendale Avenue exit. ICNA was founded on Sept. 1, 1968. It since "has expanded its reach across the US while maintaining an active presence in local communities." The grassroots organization focused not only on self-development, but also on education and outreach. |

Re: New Billboards in Phoenix
America let's in 100,000+ Muslims each year on various different visas. Most come from Saudi Arabia, where the King pays for thousands of students to come here. America is slowly being overrun with immigrants. I know, "we're all immigrants" This is a different kind of immigrants. There was a time when most immigrants came here to be Americans. They would bring some of their culture, but they would assimilate for the most part. They liked America. Not so much anymore. Especially the Muslim immigrants. Their culture and religion don't mix well with ours. |

Re: New Billboards in Phoenix
I've met a few Saudi students, and they seemed pretty well assimilated. Part of that might have been because they're guests in this country, or don't want to embarrass their own country or the people who are paying for them to receive an education here. The fact that for all their ability to fit in they still plan on returning home is more than a little ironic to me. I think Europe's biggest problem is that their Muslim population immigrates to their countries for different reasons than they do here. They're closer to their countries of origin and have been emboldened by conciliatory and appeasing social policies. Despite all of the radical Islam apologists and home-grown PC bullshit, I still think that we let them "get away with" less here than they do there. |

Re: New Billboards in Phoenix
Looking back through history....it seems that no matter the geopolitical climate...no matter how much they are appeased and given whatever they DEMAND ... they are angry and shouting NOT WE WANT THIS, THAT OR THE OTHER....BUT THEY ARE SHOUTING DEATH TO ANYBODY THAT IS NOT MUSLIM!!!! Then, RATHER THAN STAY IN THEIR OWN BELOVED SACRED HOMELANDS....They want to immigrate, infiltrate, and MURDER our children....us....and it has bbeen this way. Now I certainly know that I must be missing something being that they are continually allowed to immigrate en masse....They have essentially declared war on the West and it happened DECADES AGO.... What exactly am I missing? Rampant blind anti-Muslim sentiment exists, but if I am going to be on constant fear of these people, I want to know WHY this is being allowed. when are the collective WESTERN GOVERNMENTS going to get this? |

Re: New Billboards in Phoenix
The ones willing to assimilate are the ones here for higher education, and are willing to understand western culture. That is great and all, but lets talk about those refugees- But then we could talk about what exactly constitutes "western culture" I mean, American culture, or what it used to be, has gone the way of the dodo bird. |
