N.J. firefighter accused of dealing oxycodone

HACKENSACK -- A Hackensack firefighter was charged with dealing the opioid pain medication oxycodone, authorities said Saturday.

James Rattacasa, 35, of Hackensack, was arrested Friday after a joint investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office and Hackensack police, according to Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal. He is accused of peddling drugs "in and around" Hackensack.

Police launched an investigation May 6 after a 33-year-old man overdosed, but was revived with the opiate antidote, Nalaxone, in Oakland, Grewal said in a statement. That probe led authorities to Rattacasa.

Authorities did not detail Rattacasa's alleged connection to the Oakland investigation.

Rattacasa was released ahead of a May 31 hearing in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court.

Given his position and the fact that most Fire Departments now days carry Opioid antidotes such as Naltrexone makes you wonder if he responded to the overdose call.

I've had to take this for pain before and I can tell you that if you were to keep taking it and ignore the docotrs orders you would definitely get hooked.

I was given oxycodone capsules a few years back for neck injuries but they didn't work very well, I was in horrendous pain, then I tried emptying the capsules and snorting the powder to see if that helped, and it helped a great deal. The feeling was very pleasant aswell, like euphoria, and the pain went down by about 50%. I could easily get addicted to that stuff if my self-discipline was somehow compromised.

I know this is old, but I know how you feel. I have tore knee cartilage and I'm just about taking the lethal amounts of acetaminophen to gain any sort of damn relief. I'm hoping my doctor will put me on something stronger, not as strong as Oxycodone but maybe Vicodin (no pun intended because of Dr. House avatar) or something similar. Tried Tramadol, have to take too much of that shit to feel any relief too and that's a seizure risk.

I swear, doctors these days want you to end up in a bodybag due to them wanting you to take near-lethal amounts of OTC painkillers when small doses of an opiate (and don't get me wrong, theres plenty where you can't get hooked.) could help you out.
