Also, to the guy who commented as to WHY did the man remove the crash victim's shoes before applying pressure to his face lacs: the reason for this was because several people had just dragged him away from the plane without "backboarding" first. The shoes were promptly removed to check feeling in feet, toes and legs, to make sure there is no paralysis. Rule # 1 - DON'T MOVE THE BODY unless absolutely necessary. Let the EMT properly move the body after using a backboard.

except that removal from danger area is closer to rule # 1. Further, there's no evidence to support that backboarding would be beneficial whatsoever. C-spine alignment was more or less maintained, so yeah, get moving.
