Actually we have a damn good idea what is going on in the States. We are surrounded by American culture and media. We receive most of your TV stations, magazines, radio stations and other media. You (apart from some Canadian TV/radio stations available in the border states) are not saturated with our media. It's virtually impossible nowadays to escape U.S. media, and it's enjoyable (at least interesting) to keep tabs on what's going on with you folks.

I think the bigger question may be why do you care that we care?

Learned American history in high school, study American history in university... it's no obsession I study the histories and cultures from around the world.

I think why Canadians know more about the world they live in is because we are educated about the world around us.

You cannot imagine how annoying your leftist Euro views are when you freely apply then to every domestic American issue that arises. It feels as if you're talking down to us and making fun of America. You might not be, but it sure feels like it. I don't remember anyone on DR ever taking shit about Canada like so many Canadians do about America. America is a fairly conservative leaning country and Canada is a fairly Euro socialist leaning country. We get it...you're not America...but do remember that America is not Canada.

Learning history is one part, reading this an that, with some of this an that. Few numbers etc.

Putting it together with logic, numbers, and common sense can open a few more doors of perspective.

I am a history buff myself.

but I must ask, how is the 14% asians (next none European influence) impacting your social standings...

Not so fast Annoying Alley. You guys are far more influence by Europe than we are. Don't you have a European style government structure? A national police force? French as a forced second language? Socialized medicine? Were an English colony longer? Etc. You guys are way more influenced by Europe than we are.
