Mom Arrested for Child's Death in '57
SHEBOYGAN - A 74-year-old Sheboygan woman is expected to be charged Tuesday for the 1957 death of her six-month-old daughter. Ruby Kolkow was arrested Monday after a re-examination of the case, according to Sheboygan police Lt. James Veeser. An initial court appearance is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday in Sheboygan Co. Circuit Court. Although the death was considered suspicious in 1957, no charges were ever filed. According to Veeser, in 2008, one of Kolkow's sons came forward with information that his mother might have been involved in the child's death. The body was exhumed and another autopsy was performed. The results did not match Kolkow's story of the child falling. Kolkow was interviewed and admitted to her role in the child's death. The child allegedly was thrown against a piece of furniture, causing the fatal injuries, Veeser said. Police are recommending a charge of second-degree murder. The case will be prosecuted using the law in effect at the time. |

Did you not read the story? *According to Veeser, in 2008, one of Kolkow's sons came forward with information that his mother might have been involved in the child's death. The body was exhumed and another autopsy was performed. The results did not match Kolkow's story of the child falling.* |
