Scotland, Oxgangs, Edinburgh, Nov 5th. A fireworks rocket misfired and ricocheted into boxes of undetonated fireworks, setting the rest of the $3,200 display in Scotland off at once, scattering the audience and injuring one girl.

The Monday night fireworks display organizers, Pentland Community Centre of Oxgangs Brae in Edinburgh, issued an apology Tuesday:

"This was a freak accident, and most regrettable, but this is the first incident we have had in 10 years of holding this popular community event, and we extend our apologies to everyone who was alarmed," it said.

A girl suffered a burn to the side of her face and was taken to Edinburgh's Royal Hospital for Sick Children.

The fireworks display was part of the annual Bonfire Night show.

I hope the organizers and people responsible for the setting off of the fireworks are held responsible. "We extend our apologies to anyone who was alarmed" ??? Seriously? They need to view a few films on 'when shit goes wrong'. Fireworks are dangerous ffs. They're nothing short of a weapon and using anything less than extreme care and caution should result in criminal charges.

I saw this happen locally one 4th of July. One rocket misfired and landed in the van that had all of the remaining fire works inside. They all went up at once. Hell of a sight. People running around like crazy, screaming, rockets exploding all around. Van burning. Yep best fireworks show I've ever seen. Just didn't last long enough.
