Or, give Guzman 30 more days to get the escape plan solidified.

I think he knows once he goes into American custody it's all over, I wouldn't be surprised at all if something crazy goes down.
Yep, I agree. He will probably live a shitty existence in an American jail too so if they want him out the time is now. Won't be easy this time though.

Re: Mexico Judge Clears 'El Chapo' Guzman Extradition to US

The Mexican foreign ministry now has 30 days to decide whether or not to approve the extradition.

I read this as - The Mexican foreign ministry now has 30 days to receive sufficient bribes to not approve the extradition.
Nuff said. We all know how their government works. But, if he does go to the US, I picture some agency waterboarding him into divulging all the cocaine secrets

Then again it's a fact that the FBI and CIA are heavy influences on the drug trade to begin with.

Re: Mexico Judge Clears 'El Chapo' Guzman Extradition to US

nothing would surprise me in this age of corruption and greed...

of course another huge concern is what happens after he is imprisoned??

when escobar was killed there was a slot that needed to be filled and many people willing to do whatever was necessary to fill that slot....so we ended up with the cartels warring over territories and supply routes, warring with each other and with law enforcement...

el chapo is just one of those people and while he doesn't hold as much power as escobar did he definitely keeps the power of a region centralised.... if he is imprisoned there will be another power vacuum and the same thing could happen again if Siniloa splinters....

who knows, maybe that is the way to defeat the cartels.....just keep on imprisoning or killing their leaders until there are so many splintered groups that they have no power left and are merely a load of gangs
Good post.

I totally agree, as long as the demand is there someone will fill the void...... And it will probably involve a power struggle.

I think the Zetas are a splinter of the Sinaloa already.

Re: Mexico Judge Clears 'El Chapo' Guzman Extradition to US

Zetas splintered from Gulf Cartel(CDG) and CDG has been fragmenting itself last years after that due to internal power struggle. CDG has a pact in some places with Sinaloa Cartel(CDS) to fight Zetas for example.

Chapo getting caught doesn't mean a thing to drug business. His position and routes are already filled, he still has 2 sons in business. Though these narco juniors are so flashy that they never last as long as their fathers (like Zambadas).
I just can imagine how much old guard of narcos love social media.
