Man Drowning in River Saved by Witness
A 55-year-old man was saved from the waters of the Tagus river this Saturday morning thanks to the intervention of another man, José Brito, who launched himself into the river. The whole situation was filmed and shows the 'hero' undressing to dive next to Cais das Colunas, in Lisbon, and to bring the victim back to dry land. José Brito says that when he saw the inanimate victim, he decided to jump to save her. I was walking with the youngest son when everything happened. The man states that he would do it all over again to save the man's life and was surprised that no one had done anything. The son told CM that when he saw his father acting that way he found him "spectacular". According to the Sapadores Firefighters regiment, the situation occurred at 11:30 am and on arrival the victim was already out of water. She was taken to the São José hospital for observation. At the end of this Saturday afternoon, he was admitted to that hospital unit, but out of danger. An official source of the Maritime Police told Lusa that the incident took place around noon and that the man was the target of "cardiopulmonary resuscitation" at the site. https://www.cmjornal.pt/portugal/det...-de-afogamento |
