Man Brutally Kills His Friend After Binge-Watching The Walking Dead

GRANTS, N.M. Police said Damon Perry, 23, beat one of his friends to death after he thought his friend was turning into a zombie.

Perry and his friend Christopher Paquin were binge-watching “The Walking Dead” in an apartment in Grants recently.

"In my 13 years of doing this, that was the most brutal scene I have ever seen," said a Police Department spokesman.

Perry told authorities he believed his friend was turning into a zombie and about to bite him. Police said Perry beat his friend to death with a microwave and a guitar and stabbed him with a knife.

Perry has admitted to punching and kicking Paquin until he was unconscious, according to officials.

"There are some things in this case I don't think we'll ever know, like when the microwave was used, when the guitar was used and when the knives came into play," the police spokesman said.

Perry told officers he and Paquin drank a lot of alcohol leading up to the death.

Police first learned something was wrong when a 911 caller said there was a man chasing a woman around an apartment complex with a knife. Two maintenance men tackled Perry and held him down until officers arrived.

"We have to give those maintenance men the kudos they deserve for putting themselves in harm's way," said police.

Police officials say Perry has a history of alcohol-related run-ins with the law and has been aggressive toward officers in the past.

Perry has been charged with an open count of murder and is being held at the Cibola County Detention Center.

Studies have linked binge-watching TV shows to depression, loneliness, and obesity.

According to police, Perry expressed remorse after sobering up in his holding cell. His bond was set at $800,000.

I guess it was a good thing they weren't binge watching 1000 ways to die although this sounds like a scenario they would feature on that show.

Re: Man Brutally Kills His Friend After Binge-Watching The Walking Dead

I binged watched the Australian crime series "Underbelly" recently.
Now I talk all nasally, my voice rises a few octaves at the end of every sentence and I have a kangaroo for company.

Normally, in a TV situation, the most danger comes to the person that grabs the last slice of pizza.

But nothing like this

Re: Man Brutally Kills His Friend After Binge-Watching The Walking Dead

I highly doubt that alcohol was the only chemical involved in this incident. I'm a former heavy drinker. I've been borderline fatally intoxicated twice but I've never been "my buddy is a zombie and I need to kill him" drunk.
