Phoenix, Arizona - Larry Lee Thompson, a 37-year-old Arizona man was jailed Wednesday after he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend 16 times for "disrespecting" him.

It was the second time he stabbed the woman in the past month.

According to Phoenix Police, officers were dispatched after receiving a call for a reported stabbing.

Officers arrived to find a woman laying on the sidewalk, bleeding from several stab wounds. Witnesses stated that they watched Thompson stab the 48-year-old victim repeatedly before kicking her twice in the face as she lay dying on the ground.

Investigators say Thompson was found a few blocks away with blood on his hands. He admitted to stabbing his girlfriend, who is also homeless and uses a walker to get around due to health issues.

Thompson stated that he stabbed her because she "disrespected him". He also said that the victim begged for him not to kill her, and he responded by saying "I hope you die".

The victim was taken to a local hospital, where she remains in critical, but stable condition. Court records show that Thompson had stabbed the same woman a month ago using the same knife.

Thompson was booked into the Maricopa County Jail and charged with attempted second degree murder. He also had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest.
