Re: Large Soft Drinks To Be Illegal In New York

Well, you did it to yourselves. I still don't quite understand why make such a big deal out of it. The largest drink you could have here is the legendary 16 oz and we pay five times as much as you do for it. Imagine paying 11 dollars for a burger and fries - like we do in Europe.
Yeah, yeah, you're a martyr. Have you tried crying over it?

Are you in Japan, rheedork?

A friend visited me awhile ago and he was shocked how much cheaper fast food is in the US.

He said fast food was a treat to them.
I'm in Finland. United States has pretty much everything cheaper and the paychecks are way better. How many would drive a car if the gas price was nearly 9 dollars per gallon..

I would continue to drive. Thank goodness, my car is great on gas.

I wouldn't like it because I'm on disability, but, I hate public transportation and the smelly people and the smell of urine on some of them and the trains.

Re: Large Soft Drinks To Be Illegal In New York

This is bullshit. They would ban large size soft drinks because it might be a cause of obesity (it's not, if you exercise properly btw), but at the same time they do jackshit about tobacco products? How about introducing a very strict control of motor vehicles inside the city due to harmful gas emission?
Im not against either one, you do what you damn well please, just pointing out the hypocrisy of this. If the mayor would be really concerned about people's health, there would have been hundreds of other ways to do this (and maybe they shouldnt start with the freaking soft drinks).

Are a lot of people there living paycheck to paycheck?

The problem is I'd say a lot of people commute 40+ miles to get to work. In the countries I've been to it seems gas is more expensive but everything is closer so you're actually spending less.
