I just played through a pile of old funk lps that I picked up at a thrift store a couple weeks ago, and at the bottom of the stack was an empty cover for a 12" dance single from Irene Cara! I recall the vinyl was missing in the store but I kept the cover in case the record was hiding in one of the other jackets. Bummer, but a coincidence anyway.

From those two statements, I speculate:
- Died at home in FL.
- Presumably died unexpectedly.
- Presumably medical condition.

I read somewhere that she had uncontrolled blood pressure for many years, don't know that as a fact, however.
