I think Gen. McChrystal made a good point a day or two ago - that we should give him the benefit of the doubt; that we do not yet know all the facts. It'd suck if this was one of those things that turned out to be bullshit, only for us to have stopped caring once all the facts came in.

question: why did these platoon members not say anything when they thought Bergdahl was trying to contact the Taliban? Why wait until after the fact to say 'nah... he deserted'? Why didnt they mention that he deserted when they were looking for him?

maybe they did... i havent kept up on this.. but if anybody has answers, i'd love to know the rest of the story.

*edit* also, they said that they knew he was trying to contact the taliban... then they said the morning the found that he was missing, they had no idea what had happened. so, where did the knowledge that he was trying to contact the enemy come from and why didnt that knowledge come up when they found he was missing? Megyn Kelly asked them what their strongest evidence was and the answer was 'he left his gear behind' and 'two local kids told us they saw him'.... that's not a very strong case. im obviously not getting the full story....so keep that in mind, however... from my POV, which is somebody how has only watched the release video and these two interviews, i dont buy these platoon member's stories at all.

exactly. innocent until proven guilty is the standard for a reason....

if he's guilty, he should be punished accordingly.
