Re: House Panel Approves Measure to Require Women to Register for Draft
I think the draft is dumb, anyway. I've served in a volunteer unit that required selection to join and standards to maintain; you could quit or be reassigned to "Big Army" at any time. I've also served in "Big Army", where it takes an act of Congress to move a dirt bag to a different unit. I'd much rather have troops beside me that WANT to be where they are. I'll pass on a conscript. Regarding women and the draft, the only reason it's sort of legit is what a guy loses out on if he doesn't sign up for selective service. It's a half-assed measure, no doubt thought up solely to ruffle some feathers and make a point. If a woman wants and can do the job, I don't have a problem with it. The Female Engagement Teams are an asset, and women have been proving their worth (both as troops and ******) since time immemorial. If I need air support, an extraction, a medic, or even cover fire I could care less if they're wearing a sports bra under their cammies. I may have a preference due to some notion of chivalry, but I'd never refuse anyone who can perform the job up to standard. |

Re: House Panel Approves Measure to Require Women to Register for Draft
Update! Women may not have to register for the draft after all Since the Defense Department announced a change in those rules, a collection of military leaders and feminists have said they support requiring women to now register for the draft. But Rules Committee members instead voted to cut off consideration of the issue on the House floor and strike that entire section of the bill. The unusual but not unprecedented procedural move avoids what could be a thorny debate for both parties over women’s rights and roles in the military. Democrats decried it as cowardice by Republican leaders. But it was a republican that initially proposed this. (See post #1 itt) ...and that same republican is now against his own proposal. Smells like bread and circus. “This is a dead-of-night attempt to take an important issue off the table, and I think people will probably see through this tactic,” said House Armed Services Committee Ranking Member Adam Smith, D-Wash. http://archive.is/hyd4p (militarytimes.com, May 2016) |

Re: House Panel Approves Measure to Require Women to Register for Draft
I think the draft is horse shit to begin with. People should have a right to do what they want. If they want to join, great good for you. But forcing people seems totally unconstitutional especially when most politicians, don't but are totes cool with fucking vets over in the end. Them and their kiddos er snot nosed spoiled fuck faces live their lives as they wish and govt has the right to push the poor they piss on to fight for a war 70% of people don't even agree with 20% don't even know what its about and the reminder are the political party making bank on our forced deaths. Smdh this country has turned fucking cold and twisted. End rambling rant. |

Re: House Panel Approves Measure to Require Women to Register for Draft
This is ridiculous. If major war breaks out, there's going to be a lot of unhappy people that the feminist did this. Not too mention it weakens our military. It's already weakening the military. |

Re: House Panel Approves Measure to Require Women to Register for Draft
I doubt women weaken the military. Well at least not all women weaken the military I should say. There are plenty of women who have the gall to serve in war. They have to train just like any man would and they train their mind and body to do just what the men do. People should have a right to choose whether they want to serve or not though. No person should have the authority to send anyone away when they won't willingly sign up themselves. I am no feminist in fact I don't really like feminists, so if there must be a draft I believe it is only fair that all genders are forced into it rather than men only. But the draft all together is utter bullshit. Especially when our service men and women are promised gold when they go in and get the shaft coming out. They should be our first priority yet we place vets on the back burner. Signing up for the services these days is not a respectable thing due to our countries need and desire for money and wealth. It used to be for freedom but now its just for money and politics. Doesn't seem right to ask people to run and deal with this to begin with - but to force them seems even more fucked up to me. |

Re: House Panel Approves Measure to Require Women to Register for Draft
Women are very important in the military. Who else will type up the reports, press uniforms, make the meals, and keep the latrines clean?
