Islamic State Leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi ‘killed in Syria Air Strike’
There is confusion over whether the leader of Islamic State Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been killed in a US coalition air strike, following claims from sources linked to the terror group. The Turkish daily newspaper Yeni Safak said al-Baghdadi, who most recently inspired the mass murder in a gay Orlando nightclub, was killed in Raqqa on the fifth day of Ramadan, June 12. “Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been killed by coalition air strikes on Raqqa on the fifth day of Ramadan,” the statement said. But US officials would not confirm the statement and many took to social media to suggest it could be fake. This "#IS statement" on Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi's death is one of the shoddiest fakes I've ever seen. pic.twitter.com/wx9wJxeW2L — Charlie Winter (@charliewinter) June 14, 2016 There have also been many earlier false claims of al-Baghdadi’s death. It had earlier been reported that al-Baghdadi was injured last week about 65km from Mosul while travelling with other Islamic State leaders. Another source, a statement from Iraqi security forces, claimed al-Baghdadi was killed as he was going to a meeting of terrorist leaders. Iraqi aircraft hit Baghdadi’s convoy as it was moving towards Karabla to attend a meeting of the Daesh (Islamic State) terrorist leaders, the statement said. In Iraq, the Al Sumariya TV quoted people in Iraq’s Nineveh province that al- Baghdadi and other Islamic State leaders were all wounded three days earlier, on June 9, close to the Syrian border. |

Re: Islamic State Leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi ‘killed in Syria Air Strike’
If this is confirmed, it's great news. Drone strikes have been working extremely well over the last 12 months. When the air-strike campaign began, ISIS' recruitment was over 5,000 members a month. Now with constant bombing, destroying of their supply chains, and cutting off their routes, their recruitment is down to about 300-400 per month. Many of them are beginning to leave because they cannot receive payment or even basic equipment. This will help lay the hammer down even more on their morale.
