Grandma Fights Off Intruder With Guitar Hero Part
http://www.wane.com/dpp/news/crime/w...toy-guitar-mre Updated: Wednesday, 17 Jul 2013, 4:10 PM EDT Megan Reust FORT WAYNE, IN (WANE) - A woman in Fort Wayne used quite the instrument to fend off some intruders. Melinda Walker said toys laying around the house are usually a nuisance. On Sunday though, that wasn't the case. She says three young men walked into her townhouse near Ardmore and Lower Huntington over the weekend. Walker said they had a gun and demanded her TV and cash. Walker said her childrens' father was in town to visit and was downstairs Sunday morning. The door was unlocked because they were expecting their son to return home that morning. Walker said he heard the door open, then close. He was greeted by three men wearing hoodies. This would had been the third robbery. Walker said she was sick and tired of her home being picked as a target. The three young men, who had the strings on their hoodies drawn nearly closed so she couldn't see their faces, claimed they had a gun. Walker said what one of the three was holding though looked more like the handle of a hammer, not a gun. She said her 5-year-old grandson was at home with her. "All I thought of was you're getting away from my grandson." Last time thieves got away with her flat screen TV downstairs. This time things got a bit more personal. "I looked them up and down. I didn't see a gun. The whole time one of the kids kept saying, 'She doesn't think we have a gun. She doesn't think we have a gun. Take it out and clean it on her.'" Walker said she was fed up. "This, (a Guitar Hero video game controller), was laying on the floor. And I just reached down and picked it up and I told them to get the hell out of my house. Get out of my house. Get out of my house! I just kept smacking one of them. And at the same time, I pushed the one that wouldn't shut up down the stairs and he had caught himself half way and was fixing to come back up and that is when their Dad stuck his foot out and pushed the other one into him and they both went down the stairs and then they went out." Now days later, she has a special message for the intruders who she said, "weren't all that big." "I may not be a strong woman. I may not be a well woman, but you're not going to get my stuff." Walker said the three were anywhere from 15 to 21 years old. They sped off in a champagne colored, older style sedan. So why has her home been targeted so often? She said it must be someone who's familiar with the home. Remember, the intruders had their faces covered. |

Good for her. I hope those punks get caught before they hurt someone. Home invasion while the occupants are home can be very dangerous and deadly. Not that they should rob them when they aren't home.
